#4 ~ Signs of life

 I’ve been weeding, and generally mooching around in the budding greens as Spring waits in the wings.

I love the different little gems that one can find (hopefully all over the garden) as she lays out her finery.

We put together the B&Q small plastic greenhouse, and it’s sitting patiently waiting to house my seed sowing plans.

#3 ~ Recovering from Winter

This little beauty Weigela ‘Bristol Ruby’ is showing signs of revert from the long, and very, very wet winter.

Her she is in all her summer green last year, and I’m hoping she will flourish in 2020.

#2 ~ Potting on

This morning has seen a light potting on action with my new Garland Tool Tidy.

Not currently having a greenhouse or somewhere other than in the garden to carry out seed sewing, etc.  I’ve appropriated the unused conservatory on the side of the house.  We had an existing red metal workbench there, and it’s now sporting my great tidy - which was an absolute bargain at £15 in the Greenhouse Company sale a few weeks ago.  I also picked up some earthenware and storage tins from the local charity shop for storage.

My original Spider Plant is an absolute bleeder, and I’m for ever having to remove the babies.  I just cut them off and leave sitting in water until there’s good root growth.  Then they are potted on and distributed around friends and family.  It is simply amazing just how quickly the beggars grow.

This little chap is destined for the office.

Apart from that there is not much garden action ... apart from filling up the garden waste bin with some of the untidy trimmings left over from trimming the overgrowth from the plum tree next door.  The lawn is sodden, but the beds are starting to dry off a little.

A happy observation today, my Hybrid English Heritage shrub rose ‘Prosperity’ seems to have over-wintered well and has strong shoots, the other one (the name escapes me for the minute) is also showing slight signs of growth.

The garlic is also ok with nice shoots appearing.  I can’t wait to start planning, sewing and working outside again.

# 1 ~ New year ... new blog

I’ve decided to move my #projectgarden page from my stitching blog to its own home.

We moved here some years ago, and have spent our time working on the interior,.  We did the odd thing in 2019, but plan on consolidating it in 2020.  It will never be a show garden,  it I have every intent on creating a space to fulfill my love of growing and flower arranging.

I think once it was a well loved garden, but the previous owners covered it in sheds, and sadly abused it, We also inherited a problem with one of the neighbours, which I’m pleased is now resolved.  So we are hoping to breath new life into the space, with fencing, Gabons’, a potting and greenhouse and lots, and lots of plants ... both flowers, foliage and veggies.

I studied garden design at horticultural college when our son was a baby, and So I’m not without knowledge of what I need, and we previously had a two and a half acre plot on our farm, so fitting everything I want in will be a challenge along the way, which I hope you will join me - and sometimes us - on.
